On Tuesday 10th September, the Year 11 food students took part in a MasterChef challenge, directed by ON Laurence Henry. Year 11 students Sophie, Ritika and Joe wrote the following report of the day: Laurence’s visit garnered lots of local press interest, and was covered on the Nottingham Post, Notts TV, BBC Radio Nottingham and BBC East Midlands Today. Their dishes included pan roast white Cod and crushed potatoes with an Asian spiced bisque, as well as strawberry and chocolate torte. The lunchtime club students made pancakes with varying results (see our Flickr album below!) and in the afternoon twelve Year 11 food students took part in a MasterChef challenge. Laurence spent the day inspiring the students with his culinary skills and showing them how to make some of his own recipes. She published her first book in 2016 and is a culinary partner and executive chef.On Tuesday 10th September, Old Nottinghamian and MasterChef: The Professionals 2018 Winner Laurence Henry (ON 2004-2010) came back to School to officially open our new Food & Nutrition Room. She has written her own cookbook and is Head Chef at The Winchmore pub in London. Wrote Sunshine On A Plate and opened Lakaz Maman restaurant in Southampton. Opened Nanban Japanese restaurant in Shoreditch and wrote Nanban: Japanese Soul Food. Wrote Spice: Layers of Flavour and children's cookery book Spice Story, and became co-owner of Earlsfield Kitchen and The Jolly Gardeners in Wandsworth Wrote two cookery books and opened Bramble Cafe and Deli in Dorset with his wife. Opened The Green Room restaurant in Cornwall and took over St Enodoc Hotel in Rock. Became the group head of culinery innovation at Two Sisters Food Group. Published My Father Could Only Boil Cornflakes and teaches at various cookery schools.
